Make Goals and Crush Them

In the fall of 2012, Summerlin CrossFit opened its doors, ready to build a community of fitness and fun. We have grown and expanded to provide multiple class programs not limited to CrossFit, responding to feedback from our current members and seeking to create a broader membership base.

Recognizing this shift in the summer of 2017, Summerlin CrossFit transitioned to Summerlin Athletics, a destination designed to meet the needs of those in the surrounding area interested in improving their health and wellness through exercise and nutrition.

Mike Alexander
Mike Alexander has been a personal trainer and sports coach for more than 20 years. He grew up in Annapolis, Maryland playing most sports but primarily football and lacrosse. He enlisted into The US Navy shortly after graduating high school where he served for 6 years on board a US Navy ship, stationed in Japan. He then played and coached club level lacrosse and flag football for 10 years until tearing his ACL in a championship game.

As a coach,  Mike is fully committed to helping people achieve their fitness goals. “There is an inner-athlete in everyone, and part of why I love coaching is I get to help bring that ‘inner-athlete’ out from hiding, and to full circle.” CrossFit is one of the platforms that Mike uses to get his clients and athletes into the best shape of their lives. Although, well into his 40’s and a few sports injuries later, Coach Mike still trains 4-5 days per week.  If he isn’t coaching, he might just jump into a WOD (workout of the day) with you!

JB Talampas
JB has always been fascinated by human movement and the potential the human body possesses. He has wrestled, played basketball, run cross-country, and played lacrosse at the collegiate level, to name a few sports he was involved in. It was not until attending college that he found his love for CrossFit.

He has been a CrossFitter for about five years and has been a CrossFit Level 1 Coach for the past four.

He loves how CrossFit tests the multiple aspects of fitness and is always pushing the potential of the human body.

JB attended the University of Nevada, Reno earning his undergraduate degree in Community Health Science and is now studying to be a physical therapist at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Possessing background knowledge in kinesiology and exercise science will help him improve the health and fitness of others, not just himself.

As a coach, JB’s goal is to help improve the wellbeing of others. One of the most rewarding aspects of coaching for him is witnessing the change and growth of individuals first hand. He tries to instill a sense of confidence in every individual so that at some point they are able to say, “I never thought I could do that.”

Outside of the gym, JB enjoys being with this friends and family, going on hikes, cooking, eating donuts, going on long walks to the fridge, and playing with his dog, Nelli.
